Chuck Wayne - Traveling

One of the best records we've ever heard from guitarist Chuck Wayne — and a set that's got a bit more bite than some of his other albums! Wayne loved to play in this warmly chromatic way — a style that could often be mellow, and in a very spare setting — but here, he's at the head of a quartet who kick things up a bit — with Jay Leonhart on electric bass, Warren Chiasson on vibes, and Ronnie Bedford on drums — a group who clearly know that Chuck is the main attraction, but do more than plenty to give him some great support ! The use of vibes is great — a perfect match for the many colors on Wayne's guitar strings — and titles include "Traveling", "Have You Met Miss Jones", "Skyliner", and "Stella By Starlight". David Stone Martin cover, too !
