Teddy Wilson - Chonological Classics (1934-1935)

This first CD in a series includes each and every track that was recorded under Teddy Wilson’s name between May 1934 and December 1935. lt is amazing that the first four piano solos by Teddy Wilson have never been issued on 78’s because these early recordings already include all the beauty of his playing. Just listen to “Somebody Loves Me" and you will see what l mean. The next seven tracks present the truly unforgettable Billie Holiday. Although these were not her first recordings, they pretty much marked the beginning of a musical friendship that was to last for many years. “l Wished On The Moon” and “Miss Brown To You" are two gems that are treasured by many admirers of these artists. The following series of solos is particularly nice. “Liza” and “Rosetta” were two girls, Teddy Wilson was very fond of. He later recorded these tunes many more times. The songs that were cut on October 25, 1935 are not all that memorable, however, Teddy Wilson and his group together with the help of Billie Holiday made the very best of them. Two little known solo recordings and the first half of the following recording session have us wait anxiously for the next volume in this project !

thanks mel! I've had the solo sides for 40 years on a French CBS LP in fake stereo -- I'm sure this will sound better.
