Art Tatum Trio

For this set, the sixth in line of Art Tatum's eight group recordings for Norman Granz in the 1950s, the remarkable pianist is teamed with bassist Red Callender and drummer Jo Jones. Due to the presence of his sidemen, Tatum is slightly restricted as far as changing keys and tempos at will, but his playing is still often stunning. Highlights of the trio performances include "Just One of Those Things," "Blue Lou," "I'll Never Be the Same," and "More Than You Know." This music (along with the other seven volumes) is also available as part of the massive six-CD set The Complete Pablo Group Masterpieces.

Certainly among the 3 best and most important piano-trio albums ever recorded. I pretty much know it by heart.

Thanks for presenting this to those who don't know it yet.

I haven't heard this in years...this is the perfect time, I'm reading Francis Paudras' book on Bud Powell, DANCE OF THE INFIDELS, which mentioned Powell's love of Tatum repeatedly. Some nice musical accompaniment to my reading. Thanks!

Can you please post "Art Tatum: The Complete Trio Sesseions with Tiny Grimes & Slam Stewart Vol I & Vol II"?

They are 2 separate CD's on the 'Official' label made up of their recording dates from 1944 -

The complete series consists of three sessions: January 5th, May 1st, and June 21st, 1944. Volume 1 covers the January 5th and the majority of the May 1st sessions, material that was released by Brunswick, World, and Comet. Volume 2 features the final 2 Comet sides (from May) and the June recordings for Ash and Folkways.

Please help as they are very rare, OOP (iut of print) and next to impossible to find!

Yeah, looks like there was a change in track order at some point. I have this series in lossless in 6 cd's , but the originals were released individually in 8 albums. Anyway you hear it, they are wonderful.

Oui Mel, désolé de confirmer que l'option (unique) de Rapidshare n'est pas utilisable..."public traffic exhausted". Il serait pas mieux de s'adresser comme d'habitude aux six sites traditionnels ?
Merci
Ric
