Conte Candoli Quartet

Reissued by the V.S.O.P. label, this session features the excellent bop trumpeter Conte Candoli in a quartet with pianist Vince Guaraldi, bassist Monty Budwig, and drummer Stan Levey. In addition to the joy of hearing Candoli so well-showcased, this set is recommended because of the interesting repertoire. In addition to "Flamingo," "Diane," and "No Moon at All," one gets to hear rare selections penned by the likes of Al Cohn, Osie Johnson, Conte's brother Pete Candoli, and the leader himself.

Thank you so much for this great Conte album on Mode. They were so ahead of the times as they recorded most of their albums in 2 track stereo and released them as such when stereo became available in about 1957 on the Interlude label. At one time I had all of the Interlude albums in mono and stereo. They sold for $1.98 to $2.98 in Thrifty drug stores. Oops, I'm dating myself now.
Thanks again,Axel
