It begins simply... The rhythm mounts, gradually becoming more complex. Enter the darting, gracefull flute. Moments later, the piano and guitar make the pickup simultaneousy. No the pace is torrid. The performance frantic. It's JAZZ HEAT - BONGO BEAT ! This is an axciting cohesion of authentic Latin music and American Jazz... an unusual and profitable partner ship into new and modern sounds. The rhythm section : Larry Bunker is the drummer ; Tony Reyes, the bassist ; on bongos, Carlos Mejia ; and the conga drummer, Darias. The "front-line" boasts three of the brightest stars in the jazz orbit. Inventive, decisive Eddie Cano plays piano. Tommy Tedesco, guitarist, performs in his usual competent, driving manner. And then, wailing on flute, sometimes piccolo, there's brilliant, idea-rich Buddy Collette...

A little bit Latin, a little bit jazz, a little bit loungey -- and a lotta bit groovy ! LA flute jazzer Buddy Collette leads the session, and it's got a nice groove that mixes the piano of Eddie Cano with guitar by Tommy Tedesco and a blend of jazz drumming and Latin percussion...

Thank you Mel. How timely, I've been listening to Machito and Puente's 50s sides.

hi Mel,
Lovely post! But it doesn't unwrap with 7zip or WinRar. I get an error message that the files are corrupt... I hope you can do something about it...
It works fine for me. Try again.

re: Buddy Collette & Tom Tedesco - Jazz Heat Bongo
Great music. It might even get you out of your chair and onto the dance floor (should you be so inclined). Thanks for posting it. I enjoyed "Jazz Loves Paris" just as much as this one and I now see you have many others from Mr. Collette...it looks like happy hunting - Thank you ever so much!
Very grateful for the upgrade to losless! Many thanks!
Mel this hot Buddy Collette Jazz Bongo music is foot-tappingly great... Thanks!

Mel thanks for offering your fabulous music collection now via different hosters but I used several passwords which all don't work for me.
Any idea?
I've had this one on Lp since the 70's, 2 copies to be exact on Crown red vinyl(cheap). It was one of the first vinyl to cd transfers I did when that became possible. That seems almost like the stoneage now. I've seen this one on a few desert island lists over the years. It ranks up there with "Peter Gunn" only hipper and looser. The title track is just a killer, the Tedesco riff in the opening is so simple and yet so tricky, than Colletts' Flute just sings on top of the counterpoint of the percussion. For those of you who burn it to disc, do it so that the songs repeat over to save yourself from having to dance! over and hit play again.
